Why

Production is always the afterthought. We built a team for it.

Earned Today is run by Kasey Luft out of Kelowna, BC. Seven years of building systems for contractors came down to one conclusion: the money side of production needs a person whose job it is, not another app.

The pattern

For seven years I consulted for contractors and built their systems. Every business put time and money into marketing and sales. Production, the part that actually earns the money, got whatever was left over.

The same thing showed up in every shop. The project manager was supposed to send the invoices, follow up on them, and make sure every job was costed properly. The same project manager was also running millions of dollars of work, keeping crews moving and keeping clients happy. New work had to be quoted, the next job had to start on time, the one in progress had to finish, and there was always another job. So the money side was always someone's job, and always the last thing on the list.

What we decided to do about it

The only way I know to fix it is to manage the money and work backwards from what we find. So Earned Today is a team, not a tool. We send the invoices, follow up until they're paid, match every payment to its invoice, and code every bill and hour to its job. The software we built runs underneath, so a small team can do that quickly and accurately inside your QuickBooks.

Your project manager keeps the part they're good at: running the job and the people on it. We handle what happens behind the scenes.

What we're after

Our goal is simple to say. Every project manager you have runs another million dollars of work a year without another hire, because the billing, the follow-up and the job costing are no longer on their desk. That's what we're building toward with every client, and it's the number we talk about on the monthly call.
